Beautiful caged bird
Like a beautiful caged bird, the concept of this shoot was built around how women feel caged in the oppressive environment that is our world- the caged bird symbolizes confinement with the longing for freedom that women feel and desire. Like a bird flying from the cage, you'll see the transition of Astoria throughout this set and the freedom that comes with leaving the cage behind.
Shot in downtown Grand Rapids at the GR Studio Space, makeup was completed by Glamorously Jacole, with a custom wig designed by Katie Eklund of Horns and Halos Photography: this concept was everything I was hoping it would be. I was able to incorporate one of my custom hats into this shoot and of course we had to add a bit of a tea party feel for those shots as well!
